The Coalition to Keep Austin Affordable is led by the Austin Board of REALTORS® and includes those who believe in energy efficiency, but also believe in homeownership opportunities for Austin residents. Our mission is to educate Austin’s citizens about this issue and keep homes as affordable as possible in our city.

Socar Chatmon-Thomas, 2008 Chairman of the Austin Board of REALTORS®, put it this way, “As REALTORS®, of course we’re concerned about the potentially debilitating impact an ordinance like this could have on our business. However, as fellow citizens of Austin, it’s actually far more important to us than that. Well-intentioned though it may be, this proposal threatens our quality of life and puts homeownership out of reach for many residents – including those who own a home now but may need to move within Austin in the future.”
